Amorgos Island
 

Amorgos is the easternmost island in the Cyclades cluster. It is a land with a long and rich history, with many archaeological sites, as it was one of the most significant centers of the Cycladic civilization. Amorgos is famous for its wild, natural features; it is full of mountainous landscapes, rocky coves, sandy beaches and wide unexplored territories, making it ideal for nature lovers and ecotourists. Being part of the Cyclades cluster, the island has all the typical features, such as whitewashed houses, cobblestone alleyways, flowered balconies and lovely churches. The most popular seaside resorts on the island are Amorgos Town, Aegiali and Katapola.

Amorgos Beaches
During your vacation in Amorgos, you can swim and sunbathe on the islands' many beautiful beaches.

On the eastern side, close to Chora are the beaches of Agia Anna and Kambi. Near the town of Katapola, on the western side of the island, you can swim at the beaches of Agii Saranda, Agios Pandelaemonas, Finikes, Kato Akrotiri, Martezi and Plakes.In the northwest of Amorgos is the town of Aegiali, which is located on a bay and offers several wonderful beaches, such as Aegiali Cove, Fokiotrypa and Levrosos.

Other beautiful beaches are Kalotaritissa, Mouros and Paradisa. You can take an excursion boat to the beaches of Psili Ammos, Chochlakas, Chalara, Kato Kambos and Mavri Myti, and to the island of Gramvoussa.


Local Cuisine of Amorgos Island
It is not possible to vacation in Amorgos Greece not try the tasty local dishes. Take the opportunity to sit at one of the traditional tavernas and ouzeries that serve patatato (goat meat and potatoes), fava (split pea dip), kakavia (fish soup), xidato (goat meat soup with entrails), locally produced cheeses, pasteli (sesame bars) and rakomelo (raki with honey and cinnamon).

The schedule of Skopelitis provides frequent connection to Naxos and the Small Cyclades all year round. From June 15 to September 15 there is also connection on Sunday.

Departing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 17:30 – Arriving at Aegialis Port at 00:50, continuing to Astypalea.

From Aegialis Port to Athens-Piraeus Port
Departing on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 07:00 – Arriving at Piraeus Port at 15:00.

From Piraeus to Katapola Port – Amorgos
Departing on Tuesday and Sunday at 17:30 – Arriving at Katapola Port at 13:30

The above ferry boat connections are valid throughout the year.
Additional connections are provided during the summer from June 15.
Sea taxis are also available from Naxos for € 350 for up to 5 persons and Santorini for € 650.
